Doodle Crew
For the past year, a group of artists and I have been streaming live illustration sessions with specific prompts on Twitch. It's allowed me time to create fun one-off illustrations that aren't part of a project or commission. More often than not, Watch the Doodle Crew live on Twitch or check out the VODs on YouTube. |
Interfactives
The current initiative of the Partnership in Education is to create curriculum around stress, anxiety, and pain. A major part of this project is a series of interactive infographics called Interfactives. Each interfactive allows the user to learn through exploring the graphics and discovering facts and information. I took the text generated by the content creators and collaboratively designed engaging interactions to deliver the information. Each interfactive starts as a series of sketches and note. Once the layouts are finalized, I create the colored mock ups and art assets in Adobe Illustrator. Finally the assets are animated in Abode Animate. The What Is Stress Interfactives can be found on the Partnership in Eduation's website. |

Student Reading Resources
I recently created illustrations, 2D animations and motion graphics for the Partnership in Education's online curriculum. I worked with the website's content creators to redesign the visual aspects of their curriculum to unify the art style and ensure the clarity of the content. I hand drew all of the images, did the line work in Adobe Illustrator and painted them in Adobe Photoshop. |
The Amazing Chase
In 2017, I illustrated the children's book, The Amazing Chase written by Steve Wize. It's about a family adopting a puppy and how that impacts their lives. A portion of the proceeds of this book are donated to rescue facilities. There are plans to publish a sequel, but no production schedule has been released just yet. I will make a post with any news as soon as it comes in. All I know about the project is that Steve asked me if I could draw other breeds of dogs besides golden retrievers... the answer is a definite YES! I hand drew all of the images, created the line work in Adobe Illustrator and painted them in Adobe Photoshop. |

New Eyes
In 2016, I did a large portion of the illustrations for the book New Eyes: A Unifying Vision of Science and Spirit by Steve Treu. This was an interesting project because I had no context for any of the images I was creating until the book was released. There was this intriguing sense of mystery to it. I had no idea what Rubik's Cubes and demons had to do with camels and elephants. It turns out that the illustrations are used as visual representations of philosophical ideas. The author combines science and theology to explain his opinions of the nature of the universe. I hand drew all of the images, created the line work in Adobe Illustrator and painted them in Adobe Photoshop. I also used 3D Studio Max to create a few of the images including the Rubik's Cubes. |
Steel City Moon
This is a personal project that I've been working on for several years now... I started uploading a page weekly to Tumblr way back in November of 2014. I hope to soon have a separate site that will house this and the other three comics that I'm actively working on. For all of my comics, I hand draw the panels with col-erase pencils, do the line work in Adobe Illustrator, and paint them in Adobe Photoshop. This comic is set in Pittsburgh, and many of the backgrounds feature iconic buildings and landmarks from around the city. Steel City Moon follows Justin Weber, a typical skater kid living in Pittsburgh who just wants to fit in. Girls, grades, peer pressure... he has all the same problems as any ordinary high schooler except for one thing, a dark and troubling family secret... |

True Son
This is a passion project that I started in high school. It's been a long time in the making, but I finally started serious production last year. I post it biweekly on my personal Tumblr page. Once my comic site is up and running, it will appear alongside Steel City Moon. True Son is inspired by a lot of my favorite things growing up... classic fairy tales, the Hobbit, Flight of Dragons, the Black Cauldron, Ridley Scott's Legend... It follows the adventures of Alec, a boy who doesn't know his place, Willow of High Thorn, a general in the Royal Militia of Fairies, and Renn, a snarky but loyal sprite. |
Dice in our Coffee
This is a new business endeavor that a good friend of mine and myself are kicking off this year. Along with other content, we plan to design and release concept art and a stat block for a new monsters once a week to supplement role playing games. We hope to cultivate a community of local gamers who will be asked to playtest the monsters in their own games and give us feedback. We will then adjust and iterate them before releasing updates to monsters and final artwork with the end goal of producing a compendium of creatures. We just launched the proof of concept site for Dice in our Coffee. It's a work in progress. We plan on adding a lot more in the coming weeks. Once the Monster of the Week posts are up and running, we will also begin to post other content including blog posts, new playable races and classes, and what we are currently calling Alternate House Rules that GMs can implement at their own tables. |

What Remains
This comic series is heavily inspired by classic zombie movies particularly those directed by George A. Romero. As a kid, the only monsters in horror films that actually scared me were zombies. There's something horrifying about mindless creatures that just keep coming relentlessly from all directions. They may be slow, but there are hordes of them! Set in Pittsburgh, the zombie capital of the world, What Remains highlights many of the city's iconic neighborhoods and landmarks. Though this is the third comic that I will officially release on a regular schedule, it was the first comic that I ever started writing. The first draft of which was done in 2004. It's been a real labor of love over the years. What Remains is fifteen years in the making, but I'm proud to announce that I will be releasing pages biweekly starting in 2019 on my personal Tumblr. Once my comic site is up and running, it will also appear alongside Steel City Moon. Like my other comics, I hand draw ever panel, make the line work in Adobe Illustrator, and paint it in Adobe Photoshop. |
Beyond Lies the Wub
Adapted from the short story by Philip K. Dick, this is the fourth comic I've been working on. After listening to the Beyond Lies the Wub audiobook, I couldn't help but draw wubs. The story is entrancing, and my imagination ran wild. When I discovered that it's in the public domain, I knew I had to make a comic version. Inspired by science fiction comics published during the same decade as the story's release, I got to stretch my legs and try an art style I wasn't accustomed to. I hope that my take on this classic invokes the same love and fascination that I have for it. It will be released on my personal Tumblr sometime in 2019 and then appear on my comic site. |
